Dhigurah : Where the longest Island
and Whalesharks Meet

Bikini Beach

Dhigurah has a massive bikini beach, see the satellite image on the right. The red line represents the bikini beach, which goes down to the tip of the island. It’s easily the largest BB we saw in the Maldives, giving you plenty of space.

The Beaches

Sandbank Beach

Just a 10 min bike ride to the tip of the island will bring you to a unique beach, the sandbank. Want the sandbank to yourself? Hit it for sunrise! During the evenings you can take part in a BBQ dinner too

Whalesharks

You can’t journey all the way here and not take a Whaleshark tour. We booked through our hotel and it ran a hefty $137 pp for a full day. I reached out to a few other hotels, but didnt have much luck finding better options.

Do note that while this photo we took looks like no one else is there, that is very much not the case. There were probably 20 other boats and 150 people in the water to see this single whale shark, it was mayhem. The photo on the left shows 23 boats patrolling the same area.

Accomodation

I would recommend staying in this area of the island. Here there was easy access to the bikini beach, and closest accommodation to the sand bank. Northern part of the island was more local’s homes

Snorkeling

Bikini Beach has a handful of small reefs just offshore. They’re nice because of how close to the beach they actually are.

Want a unique experience all to yourself, just walk over to the other side of the island and hop in. The reef is MASSIVE and since it’s not a bikini beach, it is completely empty. Below you can see the two sides of the island and how large each reef is.
